Ashlyn Would Go Foundation was established in memory of Ashlyn who died at age 14 on April 21, 2005 from Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy.

She was a delightful young woman with many interests, including surfing, literature, the arts. She is fondly remembered in the Texas surfing community for her dedication to the beach and ocean, love of surfing, and for her kindness and compassion. 

The foundation was established in her memory and is an effort to help others reach their full potential in life.

The 3rd Annual Spring Surf Classic, sponsored by Ohana Surf and Skate and the Ashlyn Would Go Foundation, will be held on SATURDAY, 4/28/2012 on Galveston Island. See you at the beach! Bring the family, your friends and neighbors too!


Ashlyn Leigh Shoemaker Memorial Scholarship - 2011 presented in May to 13 graduating Seniors at Ball High School in Galveston, Texas.  Each recipient was awarded $500.

Since 2008, $15,000 has been awarded to 21 Ball High School graduates.
